The OPCData.NET component can communicate directly to your OPC Server(s), and can optionally consume the OPC Web Client Web Service.

The OPC Web Client Web Service is a Web Service that handles OPC connectivity. The beauty of the Web Service is that it uses XML/SOAP as its communications protocol, meaning that you can use regular Port 80 and XML to read/write OPC data instead of using DCOM. Imaging bringing live OPC data over the internet without having to open ports on your firewall.

You can bring OPC data into web-pages, executables, NT Services, shell scripts and more. The OPCData.NET control and the OPC Web Client suite of controls allow you to easily build OPC Client applications, but now you can build them in a scalable environment that will work on a local computer, local area network, intranet or even the Internet.
